Top 10 Good Herbs For Treating Pimples

What Are Pimples?

A pimple, a small hard, inflamed spot on the skin, is the affliction of teenagers, adolescents, and adults. Some people barely have a pimple or two at a time, but many others frequently get lots of pus-filled pimples, which are well-known as acne. In this article, we will provide you natural, effective treatments to help you keep your acne and pimples under control.

Causes Of Pimples

Let’s take a look at the reason of pimples. An adequate amount of oil will keep your skin free from becoming too dry. However, when your skin starts making too much oil, which mostly occurs in the puberty, pimples can be formed. Because of the excessive accumulation of oil and dead skin cells, pores will be blocked. This allows bacteria to grow and then leads to inflammation, redness, and swelling. As a result, pimples occur.

Top 10 Good Herbs For Treating Pimples

  1. Neem

Neem is a popular Ayurvedic herb. Research shows that neem oil contains antibacterial, antifungal, antiseptic, anti-oxidant, and anti-inflammatory compounds. Therefore, neem is a very suitable home remedy for pimples. Neem oil should be diluted with water, coconut oil, or olive oil before applying to your skin. Or you can buy neem oil soap at a beauty store for a more enjoyable experience.

  1. Tea Tree

Tea tree is a remedy for treating skin conditions and wounds. It contains antiseptic and anti-inflammatory effects that can reduce the number of pimples. In the end, the quantity of acne decreased after treating in both ways. Although it took a longer period to notice the change in the skin when using tea tree oil, the side effects of this method were fewer than other methods.

Witch hazel can also be a base for effective remedies for acne when combined with a carrier oil (tea tree oil mentioned above is a great choice). One important warning is that you mustn’t drink or inject witch hazel.

  1. Mint

You can use mint to get rid of oil from the skin, which leads to clogged pores. Mint can even help to prevent your skin from long-term acne condition. Breast Care With Ayurveda

In today’s society where beauty is honored so strongly, this discontent causes many women to look for a way to make their breasts bigger !

Many woman unhappy with their breasts for cosmetic reasons. Some complain of tonal loss or sagging, some require enhancement and some reduction.  Many woman undergone expensive treatments , some surgical to get back the breast shape. The internet and media is also flooded with claims. Hence In the present article we would shed points on Reasons and Remedies for breast enhancement. Though the information presented here is based on our clinical experience, readers discretion is requested.

  • Improper selection of brasserie in terms of fitment/size

  • Not wearing brassiere right on onset of puberty
  • Wearing tight bra during bedtime. (this can slow down circulation)
  • Physical exercises (workouts, running, cycling etc) without brasserie
  • Prolonged illness
  • Pregnancy
  • Breast feeding
  • Hormonal imbalance leading to irregular menstrual cycle and other concerned illness
  • Weight gain
  • Sudden weight gain and loss due to crash dieting etc.
  • Sexual intercourse at an early age. [arguable]

Breast does not contain any muscle and is largely consisted of a fat tissue known as Adipose tissue intermingled with lactiferous [milk carrying / producing] ducts. Hence merely doing muscle exercises or intake of muscle protein is not going to help in altering the breast tissue. However it may fairly effect the muscle on which the breast lies [Pectoralis group]. The size of breasts is decided by the hormonal apparatus which is unique in each individual and also influenced by genetic. The permutations and combinations of Estrogen, Prolactin and Progesterone with respect to lifestyle and other factors is very consequential in the physical and mental make-up of a woman. Regarding breast size Estrogen influences the lot with high amounts leading to large breasts and vice versa. It is important to understand that beyond cosmetic approach having firm nice shaped breast requires a good hormonal balance which needs to be complemented with good lifestyle and diet.

Since Arogyam mostly emphasize on natural methods of Ayurveda and yoga for the purpose , so, here enlisted some other prevalent methods for the purpose for your information. So lets begin

The following enlisted Asanas (yogic postures) really help in toning the breast apparatus. However one should understand that not one but a combination of theses postures would help in achieving the desired results. There are no specific Asanas to increase or decrease the size. The Asanas would merely help in achieving firm and healthy breast. Also the Asanas help a long way in regulating hormones and may prevent modern evils of breast cancers. I would not go to the lengths of explaining each and every asanas. You can “google” the names and would get some great illustrations and videos about how to practice them. I would recommend to take the guidance of an expert yoga teacher incase you wish to pursue the techniques. Yogic postures need to be complemented with certain rules of diet, lifestyle and also cleansing methods. Apparently not all yogic postures are safe and one needs to be evaluated to be fit enough to accept a particular asana as per his constitution and health condition. Though while practicing the asanas the main emphasis would be on breast development, these asanas also help in variety of ailments hence research properly and pick the best 1 -2 asanas which would help in your overall health condition

Trikonaasana :helps strengthen the pectoral groups, helpful for women seeking enlargement. Must be complimented with massage, herbs intake.

Bhujangasana :the imminent stretch helps in reduction of excessive fat tissue around the breast, this helps in breast reduction. for enlargement use the asana in the end stage for toning]

Paschimuttanasana:A difficult asana. It puts pressure on the spinal chakras and helps proper flow of hormones. In general should be practiced for an overall hormonal stability. However ones suffering from constipation and ulcers seek expert guidance.

Tadasana:Exerts pressure on the thyroid and is a great posture for overall hormonal stability.

Shalbhasana (Toad posture):Improves muscle stability helps burn fat tissue. done in conjunction with Bhujangasana,

Dhanuarasana & Naukasana:Both asanas combined with Bhujangasana and Shalabhasana makes a power combination for great breast shape especially women looking for reduction and firmness

There are other Asanas which are helpful but must be done under expert guidance as they are tough

  • Simhasana
  • Ardha Matsyendrasana
  • Chakrasana
  • Sethu Bandhasana
  • Halasana

Combining above asanas with proper exponent of Surya Namaskara (12 step exercise) helps immensely. It is very important to follow time rules with regards to yoga. Most postures are meant to be practiced at sunrise after relieving natural urges.

Though Ayurveda does not directly pinpoint at cosmetic manipulation towards breasts there are many formulations which can be used effectively to help in the process. some of our experiences in terms of home remedies one can safely use.

Boil sesame seeds 20gms, Fenugreek seeds 20 gm, Aloe vera pulp 20 gm, rose petals 20 gm in 500ml of water and reduce to the mixture to 50ml. Strain the mixture. Do not heat oil directly over flame]. Massage in a clockwise directions. Use downwards strokes when massaging beneath the breasts. Regular use helps burn excess fat tissue and also makes the breasts firm. [Avoid massaging on nipples]

Prepare a paste by mixing the following herbs in water or aloe vera juice. Mayphal [Quercus infectorius] 10gms , Maida Lakdi [Litsea chinensis] 10gm , Jaiphal [Myristica fragrans] 5gm. Breast reduction and Firmness

Gorakhmundi [Sphaeranthus indicus, 40gm], Daruhaladi [Berberis aristata 40 gm], Nagarmotha [Cyperus esculentus 30 gm]. Boil the herbs in 1litre of water and reduce to 600ml. Filter and store in the fridge. Intake 200ml of the decoction every morning [or in two divided doses 100(Morn.) 100 (Eve.)] empty stomach. Prepare fresh after 3 days. Continue for 2 menstrual cycles. Then take a gap of 15 days and repeat.

Use of Cow’s ghee [clarified butter from cow] in form of nasal drops helps immensely in breast development. Certain traditional preparations like Anu Taila, Panchanendriya vardhan Tailacan also be used. The procedure must be done at sunrise. Steam inhalation must be undertaken for 4 -5 minutes. After that the head must be inclined at 75 degree and warm cow’s ghee or the concerned preparation must be instilled . One should first start from 2 drops and gradually increase to 6 drops. The process would benefit more if one can ascertain which nostril [Nadi] is active. For information at any given time most of us breathe [inhale and exhale] through the right or left nostrils. Only at certain times or through yogic Pranayama can one activate both nostrils at the same time. Hence the drops must be first instilled in the active nostril followed by the passive one. The active nostril can be easily found out by closing one nostril at a time. The one that allows free flow is active while the one that meets with resistance is passive.

  • Restrict salt intake to minimum
  • Eat papaya during menstrual cycles to ensure good flow.
  • If possible go on a salt restricted diet for first 3 days of menses being only on papaya and cow’s milk.
  • Stay away from Bakery products, green chillies, pickles, curds [Buttermilk okay].
  • Avoid non-veg diet or restrict to minimum
  • Alcohol restriction

Also avoid excessive gestures like fondling and caressing during sexual intimacy while application of the above medications. Though the effects are not profound it is advisable to refrain for good results.

There are other Anaerobic exercises suggested to help breast development are :

  • Pectoral push up
  • Inverted push up
  • Pectoral press
  • Butterfly press

This exercise require weight training.

What Is Swine Flu As Per AYURVEDA 🙂

According to Ayurveda, swine flu is placed under a class of diseases called Sannipataj Jvar. Sannipataj Jvar is basically triggered by an aggravation of the three Doshas (Vata, Pitta and Kapha) and a loss of Ojas in the body. Low Ojas is lack of immunity at the physical level and absence of mental strength at the mind level. By strengthening the Ojas you can easily prevent diseases like swine flu from attacking you. Here are a few preventive tips:

– Do not greet people with a kiss or handshake.
– Do no share food, glasses or forks.

– Keep kitchen countertops and bathrooms disinfected with bleach; disinfect toys, phones door knobs and any contact surface with alcohol.
– Visit your doctor immediately if you experience sudden high fever and cough, with headache and muscle pain.
– Avoid sudden temperature change.
– Eat fruits and vegetables rich in vitamin A and C (Carrots, papaya, orange, tangerine, lime lemon and pineapple).
– Frequently wash hands thoroughly with plenty of soap and water.

Best Home Remedies For PCOS/PCOD, Treat PCOS Naturally

PCOS is a very common disorder affecting majority of women of child-bearing age, and is the leading cause of infertility in women. Women suffering from PCOS, experience irregular menstruation, due to presence of small immature egg follicles in the ovaries. This could lead to irregular menstrual cycles, increased testosterone levels, hair growth, acne, obesity, and insulin resistance.

The real cause is still unknown to experts. However, research indicates that the root of the problem is most probably resistance to the hormone insulin, which means you need more insulin than usual to regulate the levels of sugar in the body. The extra insulin causes an imbalance in the hormones that usually make your menstrual cycle run smoothly. Too much luteinising hormone (LH) is produced compared to follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), which in turn causes the follicles on the ovaries to produce more of the male hormone testosterone than the female hormone oestrogen. The adrenal glands start to produce increased amounts of testosterone as well. Too much testosterone prevents ovulation, along with other symptoms related to the syndrome. Oestrogen is still produced but, because the follicles never get to the point of maturity when progesterone production starts to increase, women with PCOS can be deficient in progesterone. PCOS may be hereditary as well. Studies show that women with a family history of polycystic ovaries are 50 per cent more likely to develop PCOS. SYMPTOMS Irregular, non-existent or infrequent periods within three or four years of starting to menstruate. Light or very heavy bleeding during your period Weight gain Excessive hair growth to varying degrees on your face, chest and lower abdomen Mild to moderate abdominal discomfort during periods Acne Excessive skin growth on your neck or in your armpit, also called as skin tags. Bone pain (Arthralgia) and Hair loss (Alopecia), Thinning of Hair. Constipation, indigestion, flatulence

High blood pressure Dyslipidemia (high level of blood cholesterol , trigylecrides)

 Cardiac disorders

 Liver disorders

Insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes

 Sleep apnea

 Infertilty and Miscarriage

 Thyroid disorders

Allopathy treats the condition on lines of Hormonal imbalance and the major treatment includes HRT (Hormone replacement therapy) where subsequent hormones are administered after proper evaluation of the patient. Diet and certain exercises are also recommended. Apart from that there is a growing belief that PCOS occurs due to malfunction of the hormone insulin and henc Diabetic drugs like metformin may also be prescribed by your doctor for the same. Surgery is also an option exercised where the ovary is punctured or the cystic tissue obove the ovary is destroyed for better hormonal gain. However all this have their own after effects and you must evaluate all options about it by asking your doxctor and personally researching on the nest. This rule not only applies to Allopathy but also to other streamns of medicine as after all its your body.

Many times in a grown cyst, doctors may order for blood test like CA125, CA15 etc to rule out the cyst turning cancerous. Once found they may advise to do biopsy of the cyst by taking a sample by laparoscopy or even suggest to do complete hysterectomy . Remember there is no direct evidence that these markers are definitive and hence one must not haste in going for invasive procedures as once done they are non reversible. I have found many ovaries go bust after these procedures. Though i am not generalising this, on must take 2-3 opinions before going ahead unless the diagnosis is definitive.

You can try the remedies mentioned below for few weeks to see if there are improvements or consult a good Ayurveda physician to see if this can be reversed naturally. However do exercise all options with proper research and care.

# Take a look at alternative treatment i.e what Ayurveda recommends for this disorder.

Two different women diagnosed with PCOS can have entirely different symptom patterns. Ayurveda refers to the symptom pattern as kapha if there is weight gain, high blood sugar, hair growth in the body, cold hands and feet, associated with infertility. The symptom pattern may be referred to as pitta, if the patient experiences menstrual cramps, high blood pressure, acne and heart ailments, while the vata type of pattern may be associated with weight loss, untimely menstruation, extremely painful menstruation, associated with infertility problems.

While diet is advised for the kapha pattern, exercise and meditation may be required for the pitta, and hormone-stimulating herbal preparations could be required for the vata type.

However, choosing the right herbs, exercise pattern and meditation practice should be done only after consultation with a practitioner, with strong background of natural Ayurvedic healing.

It is said that women with PCOS are prone to experience depression and mood swings, especially when under stress. Therefore, it would be good to set aside few minutes a day for meditation and to pursue activities that you really enjoy, such as reading, watching a good movie, listening to your favorite music, or joining a hobby class. The point here is to choose an activity that is really enjoyable to you.

Herbs that help

Ayurveda offers a range of phytosterols that can help strengthen the functioning of ovaries. Several formulations made from herbs and cow ghee can help balance out hormones. Few such herbs are cinnamon, fenugreek, aloe vera, shilajit, aswagandha, amlakki, honey, vidarikand, kauncha, ashoka, and salam. These herbs are aimed to reduce circulating androgens and improve ovarian and endocrinal functioning.

It may be ideal to include to 3/4th tsp. of cinnamon into every meal, as it helps control blood sugar levels. Also, flax seed oil, and borage oil, black currant oil, evening primrose oil, fish oil are also recommended. Sesame oil, cow butter and ghee are also used by Ayurvedic practitioners when treating this condition.

A paste made of neem, bail and tulsi leaves (about 20 leaves each) can also be taken once in the morning to reduce insulin resistance. Else, soak a tsp. of fenugreek seeds in water at bed time, and drink it up first thing in the morning.

Hormone therapy further depletes the already taxed Endocrinal system and puts it to sleep. The hormones that are meant to be naturally released by the body, now provided with artificial means pushes the body into lazy mode. The HRT treatment may provide excellent results period over a short but over time can lead to irreversible metabolic damage. For a good quality of life relief on following lines must be procured

  1. Weight loss
  2. Proper menstrual cycle, devoid of cramps, good menstrual flow.
  3. Cure from prolonged menses , scanty menses, prolonged menstrual flow are common symptom in such disorder
  4. Alleviation of symptoms like pre-menstrual swelling, hair loss, acne
  5. Good mental health with freedom from irritability, mood swings, indecisiveness
  6. Promotion of fertility with production of healthy eggs and good uterine health

Following are some useful Ayurveda tips in terms of diet, lifestyle and medicines which help in a major way to alleviate this disorder.

Ashwagandha roots (Withania somnifera; entire about 150 gms),

Arjun bark (Terminalia arjuna; about 70 gms)

Divide both of these into 30 equal parts. Now boil 1 part every morning in 3 cups of water (approx 150ml) and reduce to 1 cup. Now filter this mixture and add 1cup of cows milk to it. Boil the mixture again over a low flame till milk remains. Add 2 cardamoms while boiling. Consume this milk early morning empty stomach. Little sugar can be added for taste. The remaining filtrate of Ashwagandha and Arjun can be used similarly in evening. During summer months, Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus var. javanica) can be substituted for Ashwagandha.

Deodara [Cedrus deodar] bark 40 gms

Boil the bark in 500ml of water and reduce it to 50ml. Consume this tea on empty stomach 3 times away. One can use the same bark for all three times or use fresh as per liking. This is very good remedy.

 Punarnava [Boehravia repens] root 30gms

 Gokshur [Tribulus terresteris] 10 gms

Prepare an herbal tea as mentioned in MEDICINE 2 and consume fresh 3 times a day on empty stomach

10gms Nagkeshar (Mesua ferra flower stamens)

10gms crystal sugar (Khadisakhar, Mishri) 10gms

Cows ghee (Clarified butter from cow)

Above herbs be mixed and consumed with milk once a day. The above combination is for one day. If the periods do not commence even after this medicine then do not worry. Keep taking the above medicine. Eventually they will come and with proper ovulation.

Hermal seeds [Peganum Hermala]

Take 1gm of powdered seeds with milk,

CAUTION These seeds can cause dizziness in some and hence discotinue or reduce the dose if symptoms occur.

Boil 5 gms black sesame seeds in 100 ml water and reduce to 50 ml. Filter add organic jaggery and take 2 times a day empty stomach. This simple remedy can be continued till proper menses is achieved and works most of time. However couple this with diet mentioned below or else one may find increase of heat in the body.

Many women who suffer from PCOS suffer from prolonged bleeding once menstrual cycle commences. Pomegranate fruit rind 10gms fresh Prepare a herbal tea as described in MEDICINE 2 and intake 2 -3 times a day

  1. Food timings must be fixed.
  2. Salt restriction is another major aspect. Prepare food without salt. Add salt while eating in minimal quantities. Use of natural salt like Saindhav (Himalayan Crystal Salt) gives more benefit
  3. Avoid sleeping after lunch or during daytime. Preferably have you evening meals before sunset or when there is ample sunlight. Avoid eating heavy food after dark. One can have fresh fruits though. Always drink warm water intermittently while having food. This simple practice will help loose weight very quickly.
  4. Strictly avoid Bakery products, chilies, pickle, yoghurt and vegetable belonging to th Solanaceae family [Brinjals, Broccoli]. These products instantly cause swelling in the reproductive system. With regards to diary products keep it to bare minimum, use cow,s milk only diluted with water and medicated with cardamom to cut down risk.
  5. Drink water stored in copper vessel only
  6. Castor oil massage which I recommend to be done regularly. Warm castor by placing bottle in warm water. Massage in circular motion over the ovaries every night. Plus soak a swab in the oil and place it in navel before sleeping. This is very effective. In case of women who have big cyst on a particular ovary can apply castor oil packs. Castor oil packs are different from massage. One can search on the net how to prepare them, hre are plenty of self help videos .

For prolonged health care it would be recommended to visit an Ayurveda physician and get a customized health plan evaluated. I am also listing certain generic Ayurveda preparations that may be prescribed for the said disorder

Ashwagandhaarishta, Ashokasrishta, Kumariasav, Chandraprabhavati, Pushyanug churna, Phalghrita, Raupya Bhasma, Vang Bhasma, Abrakh Bhasma, etc. may be advised by your Ayurveda doctor.

Panchakarma techiniques like Basti, Uttar Basti, Vaman, VBirechan, Nasya are also undertaken

Certain Yogic exercises like Simhasan, Vajrasan, Shalabhasan, Sarvangasan are also helpful and may be coupled with the above medicines.

During menses continue above but leave salt and take the menses decoction as additional.

This is just a sample and will help if followed meticulously. For those trying to conceive have maximum intercourse to simulate ovarian function. More than everything keep faith and patience, do not rush and keep changing physician. Ovarian build up and conception take time and must be gradually proceeded with. Of course each person requires individual treatment and some extra medicine which can only be availed by consulting a good Ayurveda physician , hence do so of conditions improve.

Understand the Results of Your Semen Analysis

How to Understand the Results of Your Semen Analysis

Here’s how to read and understand your semen analysis, plus a description of what a normal sperm looks like. Sluggish sperm, diminished sperm motility, and normal forward sperm progression are some of the terms you’ll see on your semen analysis results.

The semen analysis measures a number of parameters that effect the chances of the sperm reaching the egg. Some of the parameters are indicators of sperm production and health and others relate the the quality of the semen and its ability to help sperm along the journey to the egg.

Since male infertility accounts for about 33% of not getting pregnant for couples, it’s important to get a semen analysis done if you can’t get pregnant. A man’s sperm count, motility, or production is very important to pregnancy. Here’s a description of the three parts of a sperm, plus information on what sperm test results mean’

What is a Sperm Made of?

Though sperm are teeny tiny, laboratory technicians can see their details under a microscope (which is what will happen during a semen analysis or sperm test).

  • The head of a sperm contains all the genetic material, so a sperm with an abnormal head can’t fertilize an egg.
  • The midpiece of a sperm contains fructose, which is the energy it needs to move rapidly.
  • The tail of a sperm is necessary for propulsion. Sperm with no tail, two tails, or coiled tails are abnormal, and won’t help with getting pregnant.

What Does Your Semen Analysis Mean?

Okay, you’ve received the results of your sperm test’and you have no idea what sperm volume, concentration, motility, or morphology really means! Have no fear: the following parameters are from the World Health Organization (WHO) ‘ a reliable source of medical information.

  • Normal sperm volume (amount) is 1.5 to 5 ml, or about a teaspoon.
  • Normal sperm concentration should be greater than 20 million sperm/ml, or a total of greater than 40 million per ejaculate.
  • Normal sperm motility means that more than 40% of the sperm should be moving (swim forward, mates!).
  • Normal sperm morphology means that more than about 30% of sperm should be normally shaped, as determined by the lab technician. If the lab uses the more strict Kruger criteria, normal sperm morphology should be 14%.
  • Normal sperm forward progression is at least 2, on a scale of 1 to 4 (this part of the sperm test measures how many sperm are moving forward).
  • Sperm white blood cells should be no more than 0 to 5 per high-power field. More could indicate infection.
  • Sperm hyperviscosity means that the semen should gel promptly, but should liquefy within 30 minutes after the sample is taken.
  • Sperm Ph should be alkaline, to protect sperm from the acidic environment of the woman’s va-jay-jay.# Below are the most common diagnosis’s made from the semen analysis.
  • Asthenospermia ‘ swimmers don’t swim: Asthenospermia occurs when the testicle is making sperm but they are not swimming. Major causes of reduced motility include:varicocele , poor diet, heat exposure , obesity and toxin exposure.
  • Azoospermia ‘ Zero sperm: Azoospermia is broken down into two camps. Obstructive, which means that there is something blocking the path and trapping sperm inside the testicle. An non-obstructive, which means that the body isn’t producing sperm to begin with. The treatment options, as you can imagine are quite different. To figure out what’s going on, a male fertility specialist may perform a physical exam, ultrasounds, blood work and perhaps a few other test to perform the exact cause. Often, due to remarkable advances in technology and medical science, there are options to enable azoospermic men to successfully father children.
  • Oligospermia ‘ Low Sperm Count: Oligospermia means that there is a low sperm concentration in the ejaculate. Generally, this means that something is impairing the testicle’s ability to produce sperm. Learn more about low sperm count.
  • Hypospermia (semen volume under 2mL) and Aspermia (no semen): Usually indicate some sort of plumbing problem; a complete or partial blockage or a condition called retrograde ejeculation. Depending on the underlying cause there are prescription medications or surgical procedures that can help treat the issue. For more severe cases where treatment is unavailable or ineffective, a specialist can retrieve sperm from the testicle for artificial insemination or IVF.
  • Teratospermia ‘ Abnormal morphology:Abnormal morphology means that something is interfering the the sperm maturation process that causes a high number of them to develop abnormally. Abnormal sperm can have heads that are too big or too small, two heads or two tails or they can be missing key proteins that enable them to accomplish their mission.
  • Your sperm will vary
  • And, if you’ve done a sperm test (or are preparing to do a sperm test), remember that semen samples can vary from month to month ‘ or even day to day. It takes 72 days for sperm to develop.
  • How does this affect the semen analysis or sperm test results? If you were ill, taking medication, or had anything unusual going on three months before the sperm test, then the results may not be indicative of normal sperm count, motility, or production.
