Sameer Panang Ras

Equipment used in construction:

Balukayantra (earthen pot filled with sand and clay)

20 oz green bottle

Multani soil

4 feet long iron rod

How to make: First of all, take pure Parad, Pure Gandhak, Pure Sankhiya and Pure Hartal in the quantity of 100 – 100 grams. Now the pure sulfur and pure mercury are mixed with Kharal and continuously for 3 days. Kjali is formed by kneading it in Kharal for 3 days.

After this, pure conch shells and pure hartal are mixed in them and then for 2 days, it is garlanded in Kharal.

Now Tulsi leaves are dried by giving 3 feelings of vowel sound. Giving the feeling means that by mixing the juice of medicinal plants in some powder etc., then again masquerading and drying it.

Before using the bottle, kapadmitti (multani mitti) is applied seven times on it. Now after filling 400 grams of Kajli prepared in it, cork (lid) is put on top.

Filling the sand and soil in the sandblaster, the bottle is buried in it till the throat.

The sandblaster is put on the fire. Now in this way medium fire is given continuously for 2 hours. After this the lid of the bottle is opened.

Now again intense fire is given for 2 hours. Due to this fire, a lot of smoke starts coming out of the mouth of the bottle. In order not to clog the mouth of the bottle with smoke, the iron rod is carefully inserted inside the mouth of the bottle.

If the face of the bottle is looked at carefully for proper cooking, then the bottom appears red.

Putting a cold iron rod in the bottle for the test does not cause smoke and by placing a copper sheet on the mouth of the bottle, mercury starts sticking on it.

After due testing, after the fire is extinguished and the bottle cools down, the Sameer Panang collected in it is carefully collected.

In this way the scriptural Sameer Panang is formed.

What is the best natural face wash for dry skin?

Moisturizer may be the product you reach for the most if you have dry skin. Face wash, on the other hand, can be just as important in your skincare arsenal for keeping your skin looking and feeling its best.

As you go about your day, your face accumulates a variety of gunk, such as dirt, bacteria, dead skin, and oil that you naturally produce called sebum. So, the purpose of washing your face is to remove all of that and maintain healthier, good-looking skin. Cleaning your face on a daily basis removes impurities and dead cells from the surface, which can help prevent acne outbreaks, inflammation, and other skin conditions.

How to choose

Most cleansers on the market are designed to remove all of the oil and dirt from your skin. However, they can also strip your skin’s natural moisture during this process, leaving it extremely dry, tight, and flaky. Even cleansers marketed for oily skin contain ingredients that can cause it to become extremely dry.

If you’re wondering how to choose the ideal face wash for dry skin, then look no more. We’ve rounded up a list of 5 ingredients to keep an eye out for when choosing your next face wash.

Aloe Vera

Bipha Ayurveda’s Indian Aloe face wash, unlike regular store-bought face washes, does not leave a greasy film on the face or skin. In fact, it helps in unclogging pores and softening the skin. Aloe Vera has anti-inflammatory and cooling properties. It aids in the formation of a protective layer on the skin as well as the retention of moisture. It contains antioxidants and minerals that aid in the healing process.

Using a natural face wash containing Neem can help to even out your skin tone. The antioxidants in neem help to even out your skin tone by reducing melanin production in your skin. It also lightens dark spots, blemishes, and redness on your skin. You can use neem to get rid of whiteheads and blackheads as it shrinks large pores and acts as an exfoliating agent to pull out impurities and tighten pores.

Patchouli Oil

Patchouli essential oil is hailed for its ability to regenerate skin cells. It promotes wound healing and effectively reduces wrinkles, scars, blemishes, and other signs of aging thanks to its numerous active ingredients and anti-bacterial properties. The aromatic oil also aids in the fight against bacteria and germs that cause pimples, acne, and other skin infections, leaving one with crystal clear, radiant skin. So now you can maintain your summer skin using Bipha Ayurveda’s Neem & Patchouli face wash.

Hyaluronic Acid.

One of the most popular ingredients among skincare professionals is hyaluronic acid. It is an excellent humectant, which means that it draws moisture from the environment and stores it in the skin. Hyaluronic acid is an excellent choice for dry skin cleansers due to its ability to retain water.

If you’ve ever read the labels of your skincare and makeup products, you’ve probably noticed one common ingredient – glycerin. This is one ingredient that has so many benefits that it is no surprise that it is used in a variety of products, both cosmetic and non-cosmetic. Glycerin’s moisturizing properties help to keep your skin super soft, supple, and healthy by combating excessive dryness and reducing visible signs of aging such as fine lines and wrinkles.

The Bottom Line

When you have dry skin, it’s critical to find a face wash that’s gentle, won’t clog your pores, and adds moisture to your skin. Now that you have enough information to go ahead and pick the ideal face wash for dry skin, wondering where to buy it online?

Womanhood is to be celebrated at all stages of life. Unfortunately, some of us are unable to enjoy the real essence of womanhood just because of the physical, mental and emotional turmoil we will have to undergo throughout our reproductive life. An important contributing factor of this being, menstrual irregularities.

The irregularities can be due to a variety of causes indicating any kind of menstrual disorders. The disorders can be PMS, PMDD, Amenorrhea, Dysmenorrhea, Menorrhagia,  Menometrorrhagia and so on.

Although each individual may experience symptoms of all of these differently, the presenting complaints might be complimentary to each other.

Let’s discuss about PMS (Premenstrual Syndrome) here.

PMS refers to the physical, mental, emotional disturbances that females experience right before or during their menstrual cycle.

The exact cause of PMS is unknown. Some of the important symptoms of PMS include:

  • Hot flashes
  • Changes in appetite
  • Gastrointestinal symptoms like nausea, vomiting, bloating, diarrhea,
  • Skin issues (like acne)
  • Psychological symptoms (depression, anxiety, mood swings)
  • Emotional instability
  • Headache
  • Visual disturbances
  • Diminished libido
  • Fatigue

However, we in Ayurveda, categorize it based on the increased doshic involvement.

  • Vata type PMS symptoms include  low backache, lower abdominal pain, distention, anxiety, fear, insomnia, and mood swings.
  • Pitta-type PMS characterized by tenderness in the breasts, urethritis, hives, hot flashes, irritability, and sometimes a burning sensation when passing urine.
  • Kapha-type breasts become enlarged and tender as PMS involves water retention and sleepiness. The woman may get nauseous or vomit just before or during her cycles.

PMS can be treated successfully using the following treatment modalities and lifestyle modifications.

In all cases, start the preventive program one week before the anticipated time of your period.

  • Drink dashamoola tea (½ teaspoon dashamoola in a cup of hot water for 10 minutes). Take twice a day.
  • You can also consume1 tablespoon aloe vera gel with a pinch of black pepper, 3 times a day before food.

  • Take a teaspoon full, sukumara grutham or dadimadya grutham on the empty stomach in the mornings.
  • Consume Aloe-Vera gel (1 tablespoon) with a pinch of cumin powder is also effective.

  • Before the expected onset of your period, consume about 10 cherries daily on an empty stomach.
  • You can also consume1 tablespoon aloe-vera gel along with a pinch of trikatu (equal amounts of black pepper, pippali and ginger can be considered as a traditional Ayurvedic formula).

General recommendations

  • Warm pure cow’s ghee and instill it into your nostrils (5 drops in each nostril). This will stimulate natural hormones and help regulate balance of the system.
  • When there is abdominal bloating and cramps, warm castor oil pack on the lower abdomen is recommended. Castor oil slowly produces sustained heat that is soothing and healing.
  • Take 3 tablespoons of castor oil to warm up and pour it onto a handkerchief or other soft cloth, spreading it equally on the cloth. Place this compress on the lower abdomen. Or you could just pour a few drops (5-10 drops) of it on your navel. Take a hot water bottle and you may place it on top of the pack to keep it warm.

1) Exercise regularly. During the month, be sure to have regular exercise including half an hour of walking or other aerobic exercise.

2) Yoga and stretches are also beneficial.

3) Breathing exercises, pranayama and meditation are also important in tackling mood swings.

During the actual menstrual period, Ayurveda suggests no exercise or yoga. As much as possible, just rest, read, and relax!

Ayurveda being the holistic science teaching us to live in harmony with the laws of nature, it gives immense importance to the seasonal transitions during autumn to winter and thereby advocates changes in habits and routines accordingly.

Concept of seasonal juncture (rtu sandhi) that is, the last week of previous season and the first week of next season is a period which is very critical to all body types.

According to Ayurveda Winter is the time of aggravation of Kapha. Vata also needs to be taken care as it shares some of its qualities with kapha.

Routines to be adopted in Winters are:

1) Unlike other seasons, one can be a little liberal to yourself by giving some extra sleep during winters as the nights are long which means rising up can be preferably by 7AM. But it’s also important to note that day sleep is strictly prohibited in winters.

2) Due to longer nights, one may feel hungry earlier in the morning. The breakfast can be heavier during this season which includes foods which are sweet, sour, salty and unctuous.

3) One should go for a thorough head and body massage with pre-warmed sesame oil at least once in two days followed by a hot water bath which will leave your skin soft and supple, inspite of the dryness and itches that the winter wreaks on your skin.

4) It is useful to get your home fumigated not only to feel warm but also to get rid of menacing insects like mosquitoes and flies appearing in the season post winter rains. Fumigation can be done by burning twigs of Agaru and Neem in a pot with some coconut shells or coal.

5) Yogasanas like Matsyasana, Ushtrasana, Simhasana, Salabhasana along with breathing exercises and meditation will help you curb kapha. Sun salutations (soorya namaskara) can be practised in the morning giving yourself some sunbath.

6) One should include substantial, nurturing and warming foods in their diet plan. Milk, ghee, sugarcane and it’s products can be healthy choices.

7) Honey and sweet fermented preparations like red wine can be consumed. Draksharishta, an ayurvedic fermented preparation can also be taken. 2 teaspoons of the same with 4 teaspoons of water will do right.

8) Black pepper, ginger, clove are some of the musts in your winter food.

9) If you eat meat, winter is the time. Ayurveda prescribes meat of chicken, turkey and other burrow residing animals during this period.

10) A session of vapourization with eucalyptus essential oil or Shathayu’s ONE DROP once in a week is useful to remove the accumulated phlegm (kapha) during winters.

11) Remember to rub a little of sesame oil on your soles before you go for sleep.

A typical *WINTER MENU* can be:

Breakfast: Wheat porridge/ Oatmeal/ Barley soup with some ghee. An energy shake or hot milk tea (chai) can also be taken.

Lunch: Steamed veggies/ Mustard greens in sesame oil/steamed rice with ghee and dal/ whole-wheat bread with khadi ( yogurt soup).

Evening brew: Spice tea (ginger, cinnamon 1/4 teaspoons each with 1-2 buds of clove, boil this with a glass of water. Add jaggery if required) / Mint tea / Lemon tea.

Dinner: Brown rice khichdi/Moong dal chilla with some mango chutney/ Steamed brown rice with rasam or masala okra.

During seasonal transition from Autumn to Winter, some of you tend to get colds, flu, cough or sinus congestion due to aggravated kapha and vata. This can be treated effectively by taking our customized Panchakarma treatments suiting your body at Shathayu Ayurveda.

Take a 10 minutes break every hour so as to retard the pain as well as relax your joint. This will also help you to focus on your work and improve its quality.

3) Adopt proper posture while sleeping or sitting. Change the bedding or seating to meet your comfort.

4)Avoid lifting heavy weights and doing strenuous workouts.

5) Apply warm *sesame* or *ksheerabala* oil on your neck giving a gentle or no pressure massage. Take care that you don’t give a vigorous pressure massage as this can aggravate the pain. Massage in circular motion rubbing vertically from above downwards.

This will help you relieve stiffness and pain. This can be practised on an everyday basis followed by hot water bath.

6) Dietary changes like including milk, ghee and leafy vegetables will help you tame Vata – the culprit of pain according to Ayurveda.

7) Yogasanas which will involve neck movements like bhujangasana, matsyasana, ardha matsyendrasana, setu bandhasana helps you in relieving the pain. Meditation and Pranayam can also add to the benefits.

Now let me tell you what exactly happens in Cervical Spondylosis – A common causative factor for the neck pain.

CERVICAL SPONDYLOSIS is a degenerative cascade that happen in your neck region usually because of the age related changes which start developing insidiously.

The causes of cervical spondylosis are all related to the degenerative changes which occur in the intervertebral disc, vertebra and ligaments of the neck.

Intervertebral discs which are cushions between vertebrae begin to dry up and dehydrate as the age passes by leading to friction between the vertebrae thereby irritating the emerging nerves.

There can also be cracks appearing on the external surface of the disc because of bulging and cause herniation of the gel like substance from inside the disc. This may impinge the nerve root arising from spinal column resulting in severe pain.

Vertebral changes may include growth bony spurs as a misguided effort to strengthen the spine inspire of degeneration which may also press spinal nerve roots. Ligamental degeneration makes the neck stiff and painful.

Pain and stiffness of the neck and shoulders are the important signs which are elicited in patients at its early stages. Gradually it can lead to a radiating pain affecting regions to which respective nerves supply. This on a long run can even make it difficult to lift your arms to do your daily chores thereby restricting your movements.

Tingling sensation and numbness of arms are also prime signs indicating CS.

Sometimes neck and shoulder pains are associated with recurrent headaches and fatigue.

Weakness and disability of arms and hands can result from severely compressed nerve roots causing permanent damage to the nerves.

Ayurvedic Management of Cervical spondylosis

Treatment of CS in current mainstream is very limited in conservative as well as surgical aspects and hence not satisfactory.

In Ayurvedic parlance greeva graha (stiffness of neck) manya stamba (stiffness and pain of neck) and viswachi (radiating or referred pain of hands and arms) are the stage wise correlations to CS and all of these are caused due to imbalance in vata and kapha doshas.

At Shathayu we aim to get back the equilibrium of these bodily humours by a multidimensional approach focusing to uproot the disease rather than providing symptomatic relief.
